PASTOR JONATHAN WALKER

Jonathan Walker is the Lead Pastor of Church on the Rock. He and his wife Kitri have experienced the life-changing impact of Jesus’ love in their own lives and are compelled to love and serve others in response. They consider it one of life’s greatest privileges to extend that same love and offer of transformation to others. Jonathan first moved to Alaska over twenty-five years ago and, to put it mildly, fell in love with this place and its people. Over the years, the Walkers have taught at Alaska Bible Institute, hosted conferences for parents and teens throughout the state, served as youth pastors and most recently planted and pastored Church on the Rock in Homer, AK. They and their four amazing children are honored to call the Mat-Su Valley home and to lead the passionate and gifted team of people at Church on The Rock!

PASTOR Jonathan Garland

Pastor Jonathan Garland serves with the Central Leadership Team at Church on the Rock. He married the love of his life, Shannon, in 2000. Outside of a growing affection for coffee and Crossfit, they enjoy spending time with their four outdoorsy, often rambunctious, Alaska-loving children: Seth, Kate, Ethan and Alivia. The Garland’s moved to Palmer in 2016 to invest in training the next generation of ministry leaders with Alaska Bible College. Before their move, Jonathan served in Oregon as a youth pastor, camp director, and senior pastor. Jonathan loves leading others into a deeper, richer, fuller relationship with Jesus and is excited to run with the amazing Church on the Rock family.

PASTOR JUAMPA MARTINEZ

Pastor Juan “Juampa” Martinez is a husband, father, runner, and non-coffee drinking Colombian. He was born and raised in Colombia and moved to the U.S. when he was sixteen years old. He and his wife Rachel met and fell in love in the subways of New York City while attending college and graduate school. They have been married since 2005 and have three wonderful lively girls. They have had the privilege of serving as Youth and Lead pastors in Long Island, New York, as well as working for World Vision USA. In 2013, they traded life in the NYC urban jungle for life in the Last Frontier, not once looking back. Juampa has taken many roles in his time at Church on the Rock, his heart being to serve where God is inviting him and where he is needed. Juampa is an ultra-runner and Ironman/Alaskaman athlete, who enjoys the outdoors with his wife and family. They are always up for a good adventure!

PASTOR Chris Miller

Chris Miller is our Palmer Campus Pastor. Chris and Laurie have three decades of full time ministry experience. They are passionate about reaching people for God and encouraging them to develop their full potential in Christ. They both lead a very active and healthy lifestyle and also enjoy watching a good movie with a bowl of popcorn together. They have two daughters, Carrie and Robin, and five grandchildren.

PASTOR Mike Sloan

Pastor Mike Sloan leads our Church on the Rock North Campus. After getting saved at 30 yrs old on a sinking fishing boat in Bristol Bay, Alaska, Mike went on to attend Bible College at Prairie Bible Institute and attain his MA in Education from Wheaton College. God took him from being an alcoholic logger to a full time servant of God. He and his wife, Molly, pioneered missionary work in Nepal for four years and have since gone on to share the gospel with many nations, primarily in Asia. Molly praises God for saving her out of a hopelessly disappointing religion and into an amazing and surprising life in God! They have two sons, Jake and Daniel, and a beautiful daughter, Anna, all who have blessed Mike and Molly with the gift of grandchildren. Mike loves to take people on trips and challenge them outside their normal, everyday experiences. Mike and his son Daniel finished a 12 year father-son project to climb the highest point of each state in the USA.

PASTOR Steve Wilcenski

Steve Wilcenski is from Northcentral Wisconsin and served in Youth Ministry for over 20 years. Steve and De lead our Willow Campus. Their love of sled dogs and the prompting of the Spirit brought them to Willow, Alaska in 2017. They enjoy ministry building and teaching people through relationships.
