Pastor Jonathan Walker is the Lead Pastor of Church on the Rock. He and his wife Kitri have experienced the overwhelming impact of Jesus in their own lives and have been motivated to love and serve others as a result. They consider it a privilege to spend their lives extending that invitation to others. Jonathan first moved to Alaska in 1993 and simply fell in love with this place and its people. Over the years, the Walkers have taught at Alaska Bible Institute, hosted conferences for parents and teens throughout the state, served as youth pastors and most recently been “church planters” in Homer, AK. They and their family are honored to lead the passionate and gifted team of people at Church on The Rock and look forward with great anticipation to the days ahead. May His kingdom come and His will be done!
Pastor Daulton Morock is the Campus Pastor of the Wasilla Campus. Daulton and Maggie have been in ministry together since 1997, and have 5 amazing kids: Brietta, Chloe, Isaiah, Ayden, and Elias. After 17 years of youth ministry and 2 years developing classes and Life Groups here at Church on the Rock, Daulton stepped into the campus pastor role at the Wasilla Campus. The Morock family shares a love for missions, music, good movies, family time, and food. They are passionate about seeing every Christian connected to God, to other believers and in ministry to the communities around us.
Pastor Chris Miller is the Campus Pastor of the Palmer Campus. Chris and Laurie have 28 years of full time ministry experience. They are passionate about reaching people for God and encourage them to develop their full potential in Christ. They both lead a very active and healthy lifestyle and also enjoy watching a good movie with a bowl of popcorn together. They have two daughters, Carrie and Robin and five grandchildren.
Pastor Mike Sloan is the Campus Pastor of Church on the Rock’s North Campus, located in Sunshine – near Talkeetna, Cantwell, and Caswell Lakes. A kindergarten dropout, Mike went on to attend Bible College at Prairie Bible Institute and attain his MA in Education from Wheaton College. He and his wife, Molly, pioneered missionary work in Nepal for four years and have since gone on to share the gospel with many nations primarily in Asia. Mike loves to take people on trips and challenge them outside their normal, everyday experiences. Him and his son Daniel became the sixth father and son team to climb all 50 states high points, finishing their 12-year project two years ago. Now his son Daniel is on a journey to trek the great Himalayan trail – 1000 mile east to west trail through entire Himalayan Mountains in Nepal sharing good news.
Pastor Juan “Juampa” Martinez is part of the CLT (Central Leadership Team) at COTR. Juampa and his wife Rachel have been married since 2005 and have 3 wonderful children. They met and fell in love in the subways of New York City while attending college and Grad School. Not long after, they began doing ministry together. They have had the privilege of serving in the capacity of Youth and Lead pastors in Long Island, New York, as well as working for World Vision USA. Both Juampa and Rachel are endurance athletes who enjoy the outdoors and are always up for a good adventure.
Pastors Dale & Susie Hooser lead the Marriage and Family Life Ministry. They have four adult children and five grandchildren. Dale was born in Alaska, Susie’s family moved here when she was 7 years old. They are passionate about Jesus and expressing Gods love through the covenant of Marriage. Together they provide help and teaching that equip couples to have marriages that thrive, not just survive. Their prayer is that all of you would know that “You are loved”.
Pastor Christine Rodriguez is over the Children’s and Youth Ministries at our Palmer campus. Christine has six children: Vanessa, Larry, Fidencio, Shelby, Tina, and Ramon. She also has two grandchildren, Kelan and Ian. Since 2010 she resides with four of her six children in Palmer. Christine and her family love to entertain, socialize, and host events. Christine is passionate about seeing people experience Jesus rather than just attend church. She loves getting people involved in relationship with each other and Jesus!
Pastor Gary Oathout is our visitation Pastor. Pastor Gary, together with his wife Carole are an intricate part of our COTR family. On any given Sunday anyone walking into our facilities for our celebration services can expect a big hug from this man.
Paul Sliwa along with his wife Emily are over the Youth Ministry at our
Wasilla campus. Paul and Emily have actually been apart of Church on the Rock since the very beginning it opened it’s doors! They have been SO happily married since the summer of 2016, and along with that, have been leading the Youth Ministry since the summer of 2016. This couple loves adventure and exploring God’s beautiful creation. Things like hiking, rafting, mission trips, soccer (for Paul), Photography (for Emily), and hanging out with students are all things you can find them doing. These two love investing their time and energy with students, and helping make known the reality of Jesus to them. They are also in charge of the young adults ministry at our Wasilla campus. Helping other young adults like themselves navigate through life and find purpose in community with one another is something Paul and Emily enjoy doing as well! They hope to continue loving like crazy, serving the community whole hardheartedly, and living EPIC lives for Jesus!
Rick became pastor at the WASI campus in 2014. Rick & Trudy started ministry in college together in 1989 and then came up to Alaska in 1993 to pastor in Bush Alaska. Since coming to Wasilla in 2005, they have been involved in many ministries at COTR from small groups to Fresh Start. They have 6 kids: Tiffany & husband, Brad; Zachary & wife, Kristen; Natalie & granddaughter, Hadleigh; Emily, Naomi & Joseph. The whole family loves to go and invest in missions, watch movies, play games, go camping and have fun together. They LOVE serving and LOVE people. COTR has been the best place to put those LOVES together.
